STATEMENT OF FAITH

Calvary Chapel has been formed as a fellowship of believers in the Lordship of Jesus Christ. Our supreme desire is to know Christ and be conformed to His image by the power of the Holy Spirit. We are not a denominational church, nor are we opposed to denominations as such, only to their over-emphasis of the doctrinal differences that have led to the division of the Body of Christ.

We believe…

The Bible to be the inspired and only infallible authoritative Word of God.

That there is one God, eternally existent in three persons:  Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

In the deity of our Lord Jesus Christ, in His virgin birth, in His sinless life, in His miracles, in His vicarious and atoning death through His shed blood upon the cross, in His bodily resurrection, in His ascension to the right hand of the Father, and in His imminent personal return in power and glory to judge the living and the dead.

That, for the salvation of lost and sinful man, regeneration by the Holy Spirit is absolutely essential, and that this salvation is received by grace alone through faith alone in Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord, and not as a result of good works.

In the present power and ministry of the Holy Spirit, by whose indwelling the Christian is empowered and gifted to be the an ambassador of the gospel, be the workmanship of God, abide in Him, and walk in the works He has designed for them to live out for His glory.

In the resurrection of both the saved and the lost: they who are saved unto the resurrection of life and they who are lost unto the resurrection of damnation.

That from the beginning God has created all human beings male and female and set out very specific natural and spiritual laws for the flourishing of humanity in God honoring Biblical relationships.

That all sin and disobedience destroys God’s plan to flourish humanity including but not limited to pride, sexual immorality, adultery, homosexuality, covetousness, lying, thieving, hatred, drunkenness and strife.

That marriage is a sacred, gospel covenant before God between one man and one woman and recognized by this church as the only form of God honoring marriage in the Bible.

That regardless of denominational differences: there is one, eternal, global church, the body of Christ, and we are all unified and diversified in the Spirit of God, for the glory of God the Father, through the life of His Son Jesus Christ our LORD.

Final Authority for Matters of Belief and Conduct

This statement of faith does not exhaust the extent of our beliefs. The Bible itself, as the inspired and infallible Word of God that speaks with final authority concerning truth, morality, and the proper conduct of mankind, is the sole and final source of all that we believe. For purposes of Calvary Chapel Sevier Valley’s faith, doctrine, practice, policy, and discipline, our Senior Pastor with advisement of our Board of Directors is Calvary Chapel Sevier Valley’s final interpretive authority on the Bible’s meaning and application.
